Here We Go Again!
Although I have not been updating the site recently I have been pressing on with researching the medieval period, particularly around Ela, 3rd Countess of Salisbury.

After a period of silence, as I have been gradually getting to grips with the discipline of research, I am back with an update of my progress.
As I said before, one of my tasks has been to research one of the key members of the Lacock story - Ela, countess of Salisbury. Without her, there would be no Abbey at Lacock, nor very much else.

There has been a long period when I have not been on a position to do anything meaningful about the site. Two things have changed all that. The first is that our son got married last weekend and secondly my work commitments tail off as the autumn turns to winter.

Foundation
I have been getting increasingly confused by why a lot of Internet sources consistently give 1229 as the date for the founding of Lacock Abbey. This is, of course just plain wrong.
I sat down yesterday with all sorts of books and reference material at the dining room table, to try and work out why this was happening.
